NetSuite 2026.2 September Minor Release: SS 2.1 Mandate, REST Saved Search, SDF Tool Deprecation
The September 2026.2 minor release makes SuiteScript 2.1 the standard scripting version with a formal deprecation timeline for SS 1.0/2.0/2.x through 2028.2, adds saved search and file cabinet support to REST web services, deprecates the SDF 'tool' custom object in favor of 'toolset', and delivers consigned inventory transfers, a manufacturing Production Control Board, N/llm reasoning-effort controls, and Tax Inclusive Pricing GA in SuiteTax.
SuiteScript: 2.1 Is Now the Standard — Deprecation Timeline Published
SuiteScript 2.1 is officially the standard scripting version for all new and existing customizations. Oracle has published a concrete deprecation schedule for SS 1.0, 2.0, and scripts annotated with @NApiVersion 2.0 or @NApiVersion 2.x:
- 2026.2 (now) — SS 2.1 becomes the standard scripting model.
- 2027.1 — SS 1.0 enters end-of-life support (critical fixes only). Non-critical bugs require conversion to SS 2.1 first.
- 2028.1 — SS 1.0 scripts can no longer be deployed in new accounts (pre-existing accounts are grandfathered). SS 2.0/2.x scripts run as SS 2.1 by default.
- 2028.2 — All scripts must use SS 2.1. Legacy script versions will no longer execute.
You can now replace a SuiteScript 1.0 script file on an existing script record with a compatible SS 2.1 file — NetSuite automatically updates the record's SuiteScript API Version field to 2.1. This works in the UI, through SDF deployments, and through SuiteBundler updates. The replacement file must match the existing script type. You can also overwrite the contents of an attached SS 1.0 file with SS 2.1 code and save it in the UI for the same automatic version update.
What to do
- Audit all custom scripts for
@NApiVersion 2.0,@NApiVersion 2.x, and SS 1.0 scripts. See Oracle's guidance: Identifying Scripts That Are Not Using SuiteScript 2.1. - Use the account-level preference to run SS 2.0/2.x server scripts in the SS 2.1 runtime for testing before changing annotations. See Enabling SuiteScript 2.1 at the Account Level.
- Prioritize business-critical customizations. Consult Transitioning To SuiteScript 2.1 for migration strategies and compatibility differences.
SuiteScript: N/llm Module Enhancements
The N/llm module now supports reasoning effort and structured JSON response format for the GPT OSS model:
options.modelParameters.reasoningEffort— acceptsllm.ReasoningEffort.LOW,MEDIUM(default), orHIGH. Applies to bothllm.generateText(options)andllm.generateTextStreamed(options). Higher values increase NetSuite AI Unit consumption.options.responseFormat— pass a valid JSON schema object to get structured JSON output from GPT OSS. Previously this was limited to Cohere models only.
SuiteScript: SPA Support in Account Customization Projects
Account customization projects can now build and deploy single page applications (SPAs) to create custom NetSuite UIs. Previously, SPAs required a SuiteApp project. See Single Page Applications for prerequisites, project paths, and deployment details.
SuiteScript: Custom Toolset Activation Controls
Administrators can now activate or deactivate custom toolsets from the Custom Tools page. The activation status is displayed per toolset. Tools in inactive toolsets are not discoverable or executable through the NetSuite AI Connector Service. Existing custom toolsets are automatically set to active.
SuiteCloud Development Framework: 'tool' Custom Object Deprecated
Custom tools using the tool SDF custom object can no longer be deployed as of this release — neither new deployments nor updates to existing ones. In 2027.1, these custom tools will stop executing entirely.
What to do
- Migrate all custom tools from the
toolSDF custom object to thetoolsetSDF custom object immediately. - Follow Oracle's migration guide: How to Update Custom Tool Scripts for Execution Log Support in NetSuite 2026.1 (SuiteAnswers ID 1024036).
- Redeploy before 2027.1 to avoid runtime failures.
SuiteTalk REST Web Services: Saved Search Support
REST web services now support retrieving and executing saved searches. You can:
- Retrieve a single saved search definition.
- List saved searches.
- Execute a saved search synchronously or asynchronously.
This brings saved search capabilities — including advanced filters and result display options — into the REST API. Previously, saved search execution required SuiteTalk SOAP or SuiteScript. See Using Saved Search in REST Web Services.
SuiteTalk REST Web Services: File Cabinet Records
REST web services now expose file cabinet records (files and folders) through a new document service at:
/services/rest/document/v1/file/services/rest/document/v1/folder
This enables CRUD operations on file cabinet records via REST. Folder-level access restrictions set by the folder owner or administrator are respected.
Inventory Management: Consigned Inventory Transfers
The Inventory Transfer form now supports moving consigned items between locations within the same subsidiary. The transfer updates inventory quantities directly — no ownership change or fulfillment processing is involved. You can also change the consigned status of inventory during the transfer. This is significant for organizations managing vendor-owned stock across multiple warehouses.
Inventory Management: Optimization Enhancements
- New Supply Analysis Interval preference — Set independently from demand history (Order Analysis Interval) on the Optimization Preferences tab of Inventory Management Preferences. Controls the period used for average lead time and lead-time standard deviation calculations.
- New Segmentation Dataset and Workbook — Shows assigned ABC/123 categories and Inventory Optimization segments with the calculation values behind them (annual consumption value, monthly demand variability). Note: viewing this workbook does not trigger a recalculation.
- Updated Results Dataset and Workbook — Now includes projected shortages, inventory levels/values, quantity fill rate, turnover, and service levels. New table views: Inventory Optimization KPIs and Inventory Optimization Diagnostics (compares projected service levels for previous vs. newly optimized safety stock).
Manufacturing: Production Control Board
A new Production Control Board dashboard is available at Transactions > Manufacturing > Production Control Board. It consolidates work order monitoring with filters for subsidiary and location. The Insights subtab provides charts: WIP Balance, Components with Shortage, Scrap Trend, Top Produced Assemblies Trend (Volume and Cost), and Production Cost Trend. The Work Orders subtab groups work orders by status (active, in-process, ready, recently completed, to release) with a Risk column flagging late starts, late completions, and component shortages. Available actions vary by work order status/type: preview, release, close, build, issue components, enter completions.
Item Record Management
- Item Pricing Performance Workbook — Now includes historical pricing data comparing configured item prices against realized transaction performance by item, period, currency, subsidiary, and price level. Metrics include average sales price, revenue, units sold, cost, margin, and sell-through.
- Item Creation Assistant — Now supports Serialized Inventory Items, Lot Numbered Inventory Items, and Non-Inventory Items for Resale (previously limited to standard inventory items only).
SuiteTax: Tax Inclusive Pricing Is GA
Tax Inclusive Pricing (TIP) is now generally available in SuiteTax. The Prices Include Tax checkbox on supported transactions controls whether lines use tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive prices. Both TIP and TEP values can be maintained on item and customer pricing records. The feature covers sales, purchases, pricing settings, discounts, shipping, and handling. Pricing is sourced per line based on the selected mode. Supported workflows include price levels, quantity pricing schedules, and mass updates.
What to do
- Verify that roles have permissions for price setup and maintenance.
- Ensure item/customer pricing records have the relevant TIP or TEP values populated for correct line sourcing.
- Test the Prices Include Tax toggle on transactions in sandbox before enabling in production.
Account Setup: 2FA for All Employee Roles
As of September 21, 2026, administrators can enable mandatory two-factor authentication (2FA) for all users in all Employee roles. This is an opt-in feature. See 2FA for All Employee Roles.
SuiteAnalytics: Analytics Warehouse Provisioning Change
Enabling the NetSuite Analytics Warehouse feature no longer automatically creates a warehouse instance. Administrators must now explicitly create the instance from the NetSuite Analytics Warehouse Configuration page. If the feature is disabled after instance creation, the instance persists but the data pipeline stops.
User Interface: New Help Center
The Help Center has a refreshed layout with plain-language search. Search results now include support articles, presentations, videos, and announcements alongside standard help and release notes articles. Rolling out in phases.
