2026.2 September Minor Release: N/llm Module GA, Tool SDF Deprecation, SPA Support, and Tax Inclusive Pricing
The September 2026.2 minor release expands N/llm to all regions with new model options, deprecates the tool SDF custom object in favor of toolset, adds SPA support to account customization projects, introduces Tax Inclusive Pricing in SuiteTax, and signals mandatory 2FA for all employee roles in 2027.1.
NetSuite's September 21, 2026 minor release for version 2026.2 delivers a broad set of changes across SuiteScript, SuiteCloud Development Framework, AI capabilities, SuiteTax, and several functional areas. This digest covers the technically significant items that developers and admins need to act on.
N/llm Module — Now Available in All Regions
The SuiteScript 2.1 N/llm module, along with Text Enhance, Text Enhance Translations, and Prompt Studio, is now generally available in all supported NetSuite regions. Previously region-restricted, this removes the geographic gating for AI-powered scripting.
Additional N/llm enhancements in this release:
- Reasoning effort settings are now supported for GPT OSS models — allowing you to tune cost vs. depth of reasoning at the API call level.
- Response format support has been extended to Cohere and GPT OSS models, giving structured output options beyond the previously supported model families.
A new NetSuite AI Units usage dashboard is available for monitoring consumption. Help topics in the Managing AI Preferences section now reference this dashboard for usage tracking.
AI Agent Plug-ins and SuiteCloud Agent Skills
The SuiteCloud Agent Skills guide has been renamed to AI Agent Plug-ins and SuiteCloud Agent Skills. New AI Agent Plug-ins are now available for both business users and SuiteCloud developers. The SDF XML definition for Skills has been updated with two new fields:
displaynameaudienceinternalroles
New core AI skills added: inventory exceptions review, inventory movement insights, narrative insights (records and reports), and supply chain persona-based responses.
Tool SDF Custom Object — Deprecated
The tool SDF custom object type is deprecated. It is replaced by the toolset SDF custom object. This affects:
- Custom Tool Scripts — XML definitions now reference toolset rather than tool.
- Execution logs — for custom tools implemented with the
toolsetobject, execution logs are viewed in a different location. Review the updated SuiteScript Monitoring, Auditing, and Logging documentation. - Toolset Activation — a new section has been added to the Managing Custom Tools in NetSuite documentation.
SPA Support in Account Customization Projects
Single Page Applications (SPAs) can now be developed and deployed within account customization projects. Previously limited to SuiteApp projects, this opens SPA deployment to a broader set of customization workflows. Review the updated Single Page Applications help topic for deployment details.
Script Record API Version Validation
Script record API version updates now include related validation. The following areas are affected:
- Creating a Script Record
- Converting a SuiteScript 1.0 Script to a SuiteScript 2.1 Script
A new Entry Point Script Validation Error Reference is available. If you have CI/CD pipelines that create or convert script records, verify that your scripts pass the updated validation rules.
SuiteCloud CLI — New config:import Command
The SuiteCloud CLI for Node.js adds a new config:import command. Details are sparse in the source — check the updated SuiteCloud CLI for Node.js Guide for syntax and usage.
Additionally, the SuiteCloud Developer Assistant integration with Cline now requires Cline version 4.0.0 or later.
SuiteFlow — Workflow Initiation Best Practices
New documentation covers best practices for workflow initiation on record load, including:
- Choosing the correct initiation trigger
- Best practices specifically for initiating workflows on record load events
If you have workflows triggered on record load that exhibit performance issues or unexpected behavior, review the new guidance under Initiating a Workflow on an Event.
2FA Required for All Employee Roles — 2027.1
Advance notice: Starting in NetSuite 2027.1, two-factor authentication will be required for all employee roles. This is listed now to give admins lead time. Begin planning your rollout — ensure all employees have 2FA configured before the 2027.1 upgrade window.
System Notes for AI-Driven Record Changes
NetSuite now generates system notes that identify record changes made by AI features. A new help topic, Viewing System Notes for Changes Made by AI Features, documents how to audit these changes. This is relevant for compliance and change-tracking workflows that rely on system notes.
Tax Inclusive Pricing in SuiteTax
A new Tax Inclusive Pricing feature is available in SuiteTax. Three new help topics cover:
- General Tax Inclusive Pricing in SuiteTax behavior
- How Tax Inclusive Pricing works with the SuiteTax Engine specifically
- A note that Tax Inclusive Pricing for SuiteTax Engine does not support United States nexuses
If you operate in jurisdictions where tax-inclusive pricing is required (e.g., EU, AU), review the new feature and test against your existing tax configurations.
Inventory Optimization Updates
- New Supply Analysis Interval preference — allows separate demand and supply history periods in inventory optimization calculations.
- New Inventory Optimization Segmentation Dataset and Segmentation Workbook for reviewing category and segment assignments with supporting calculation values.
- Projected planning results are now available in the existing Results Dataset and Workbook.
Banking — SFTP Limit and Reconciliation Changes
- Auto Bank Statement Import via SFTP now enforces a 5,000-file limit per SFTP directory. If your bank feed directories accumulate files, implement archival or cleanup processes.
- Payment application suggestions that are no longer valid now have documented handling guidance.
- Automatically submitted high-confidence matches can now be more easily identified. Cash-in-transit suggestions require manual review — they are not auto-submitted.
Localization Highlights
- Brazil: New GL Lines Plug-in deployment for Deferred Revenue Recognition, new Enable Deferred Revenue Posting for Taxes field, Pix payment limitation removed for CNAB 240 Banco do Brasil delivery files.
- Singapore: PEPPOL-Ready E-Invoicing enhancements.
- Norway: Tax reports split into SuiteTax vs. non-SuiteTax sections; version 1.16.0 updates.
- Japan: New deductible purchase tax rate options — 70%, 30%, and 0% added to the Tax Deductible field.
- Electronic Invoicing: Version 10.5.0 released.
What to Do
- N/llm users in previously restricted regions: The module is now available. Test your
N/llmscripts and monitor consumption via the new AI Units dashboard. - Migrate from
tooltotoolset: If you have SDF projects using thetoolcustom object, plan migration totoolset. Update XML definitions and verify execution log access paths. - Update Skills XML: Add
displaynameandaudienceinternalrolesfields to your skill definitions if deploying AI Agent Skills. - Test SPA deployment: If you have SPAs in SuiteApp projects that would benefit from account customization deployment, test the new pathway.
- Validate script records: Run your script record creation and conversion workflows against the new API version validation. Fix any entry point validation errors using the new error reference.
- Upgrade Cline: If using SuiteCloud Developer Assistant with Cline, upgrade to version 4.0.0+.
- Plan for 2FA in 2027.1: Audit employee roles and begin enforcing 2FA ahead of the mandatory requirement.
- Review SFTP directories: If using Auto Bank Statement Import, ensure SFTP directories stay under 5,000 files.
- Test Tax Inclusive Pricing: If applicable to your nexuses (non-US), enable and test the new SuiteTax feature in sandbox.
- Japan tax: If using deductible purchase tax, verify the new 70%/30%/0% rate options align with your tax setup.
